Accessible training is important to us. Our regularly priced classes are listed at significantly below market rate to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to grow their human animal bond through fun and supportive training classes. Regularly priced classes start at $156 for 6 week classes. Regularly priced group classes with a 4 dog capacity are offered at $196 for 6 week classes. Subsidized rates on regularly priced classes are available to individuals receiving ODSP, GIS, OW, and CPP-D. Additionally, we offer subsidized pricing to all members of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.. To obtained subsidized rates prior to registration please email publictraining@torontohumanesociety.com.

Interested in our Puppy Manners and Socialization Class? We recognize that your puppy's critical socialization period is between 8 weeks and 12 weeks. Our weekly modules are stand alone modules, so if you would like to join a class earlier than the next scheduled start, please email us at publictraining@torontohumanesociety.com and we can help you register for an earlier start date based on current class capacity.

Our Location: 11 River Street, Toronto (Corner of River St and Queen E. River St is West of Broadview and East of Parliament).

Introduction to Trick Training - Tuesdays, December 10 - January 14 (no class Dec 24 and 31) at 5pm

3 hours 20 minutes @ CA$104.00

In this 4 week class, you will the skills needed to work towards the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title. Taught by Stephanie Tran, CTDI (Certified Trick Dog Instructor). Have fun with your dog while building your human animal bond. Foundation Skills is a prerequisite for this course.

Private Dog Sports Training Package

45 minutes @ CA$180.00

This training package is for beginner or more experienced dog and handler teams who are interested in one on one training for Scent Detection, Rally-O, or Obedience.
The trainer will work with you and your dog to teach the basics of a specific sport and advance your skills to the next level. This package is suitable for individuals who are looking to compete with their dog or just looking for a fun bonding experience.
This package will include 4 session that will run for about 45 minutes each.

Cat Problem Solving and Behaviour Modification Consultation and 60 minute Follow-up Package

1 hour @ CA$160.00

This is a 2 session package. The first virtual session is a 60 minute initial consultation where you will meet with a certified trainer to have your cat’s behaviour assessed. During the session your trainer will discuss management and training strategies to help your cat learn alternative behaviours, so please be ready to take notes. After the session you will receive resources to support information discussed during the session. Your trainer will book the follow up at the end of the session.

Cat Problem Solving and Behaviour Modification Consultation

1 hour @ CA$85.00

This service provides you with an opportunity to meet with a certified trainer for a consultation and assessment of your animal’s problem behaviour. During this virtual session, you’ll arrive ready to take notes while your trainer outlines management strategies, realistic goal setting and training approaches to help your animal learn alternative behaviours. You will receive handouts written or recommended by our staff and initial training exercises by email following your appointment.

Dog Problem Solving and Behaviour Modification Consultation with 3 Follow Up Training Sessions

1 hour @ CA$425.00

This appointment is the first in a package offering a behaviour consultation and 3 additional training sessions where you will meet with your trainer either in person at our facility located at 11 River St or virtually. The additional training sessions in this package will be booked by your trainer at the end of your initial behaviour consultation. Please note package appointments are booked on a first come first served basis due to high demand. Appointment times may vary.

Dog Problem Solving and Behaviour Modification Consultation

This service provides support to dog owners who struggle with behavioural issues such as anxiety, destruction, fear, reactivity or aggression. During your consultation, we will obtain a detailed history so that the functions of the problem behaviour can be assessed, then a management and training plan will be provided. If your dog displays acute aggression please email us before your visit at publictraining@torontohumanesociety.com for instructions for entering the building.

Separation Anxiety Training - Initial Consultation and Training Support Package

1 hour @ CA$425.00

This appointment is a package that includes this 60 minute initial consultation, and 3 subsequent 45-60 minute training sessions where you will meet with your trainer virtually to work through the components of the plan. All session are virtual. The remaining training sessions in this package will be booked by your trainer at the end of the consultation. Please note training sessions are booked on a first come first served basis. Appointment times may vary.

Foundations Skills - Sundays, November 24 - January 5 (no class Dec 29) at 11:30am

Our Foundation Skills class is one of our most popular classes. Using positive reinforcement methods, you'll learn how to teach your dog polite leash walking skills, hand targeting, cued handler focus, leave it, come when called, relax on a mat, sit and down stay. Each week builds on skills learned the previous week. This class is suitable for adult dogs of any age and puppies above 16 weeks old.

Polite Family Dog Advanced Manners - Sundays, December 8 - January 19 (no class Dec 29) at 2 pm

If your dream is a dog that can sit politely while you chat with your neighbour, calmly greet guests at family events (and abstain from stealing the food off the table!) and happily focus on you when passing friendly strangers or dogs on the street this class is for you. Based on the Canine Good Neighbour test, this class focuses on practicing polite behaviours with tempting distractions using positive reinforcement training. Prerequisite: Foundation Skills.

Reactive Dog Small Group Class - Mondays, January 6 - February 10 at 1:30pm

5 hours @ CA$196.00

This class is for dogs who display frustration and leash reactivity around dogs or other triggers. This class focuses on practicing foundations behaviours in a small group with visual barriers and distance to keep dogs under threshold. We will practice calm alternatives to lunging, focus exercises and impulse control exercises, along with management techniques to set your dog up for success. If your dog shows acute aggression towards other dogs and people please email us to inquire about private training.

This small group class focuses on helping your fearful dog learn some essential skills as you strengthen your human animal bond We'll cover strategies to prevent flight risk, stranger danger, calm and low stress greetings, environmental fear, leash reactivity, resource guarding and alert barking. Classes start with a topic discussion and finishes with hands on training exercises. Extensive handouts included.

Puppy Manners and Socialization - Wednesdays, November 27 - January 15 (no class Dec 25 + Jan 1) at 5pm

5 hours @ CA$156.00

This class focuses on puppy manners, socialization experiences and solutions for common challenges new puppy parents experience. You will learn how to teach your puppy basic training exercises and learn about crate training, house soiling, and more. This class may be started as early as 8 weeks of age and is open to puppies under 6 months of age.
